Page gap analysis is an SEO technique that compares your content structure against competitors to identify topics and subtopics they cover that you don't. By analyzing headings (H1-H6), you can discover content opportunities to make your page more comprehensive and competitive in search rankings.
The tool uses a text similarity algorithm to compare headings across pages. Headings with 75%+ similarity are marked as "similar" (yellow), allowing you to identify when competitors cover the same topic with slightly different wording. Exact matches are marked as "shared" (green), while unique content is marked in blue.
URL 1 is used as the baseline for gap analysis. The "Missing from Your Page" section shows topics that competitors (URLs 2-5) have that your page (URL 1) doesn't cover. This helps you identify exactly what content you need to add to compete effectively.
You can compare between 2 and 5 URLs at once. This allows you to analyze your page against up to 4 competitors simultaneously. For best results, choose competitors that rank well for your target keywords.
Three export options are available: "Complete Export" includes all metrics, headings, and analysis; "Side by Side" shows headings in the order they appear with status markers; "Missing Only" exports just the topics missing from your page — ideal for creating a content action plan.
Focus on the "Missing from Your Page" section first — these are topics competitors cover that you don't. Add new sections addressing these topics to make your content more comprehensive. Also review "similar" headings to ensure your coverage is as thorough as competitors, and leverage "unique topics" as your content differentiators.
